Artful Travelers is proud to announce a unique opportunity to explore the world of food and wine while sailing from Belfast to Barcelona on the Regent Seven Seas Voyager this July! The special 15 day itinerary includes a 3 night stay in Bordeaux, the center of France’s wine-making region, with opportunities to explore the very best of Bordeaux and the Dordogne area.

The adventure will include various wine lectures, tastings, private tours and wine dinners both on and off the Voyager. Four speakers – wine educators, authors, winemakers and winery owners – will share their unique stories and expertise from the world of exquisite food and amazing wines. Guests will experience wines from the most famous wine-making regions: Napa Valley, Bordeaux, Italy, Spain and Argentina. Special shore excursions will tour the region, with both speakers and guides leveraging their unique connections with the best wineries in the region.

If you love food and wine, whether an experienced collector or someone who’s just learning about wines, this Spotlight on Wine will provide a wonderful opportunity to experience terrific varietals while visiting some of the world’s best wine-making regions.

Featured Speakers:

KELLI A. WHITE: Director of Education at The Wine Center at Meadowood

Kelli is the Director of Education for The Wine Center at Meadowood, which offers a unique suite of wine education classes, events, and services for Meadowood guests and Members of The Napa Valley Reserve. Prior to that, she worked as a sommelier for nearly a decade between New York City and Napa Valley. In 2013, Food & Wine magazine named her one of the top sommeliers in the country. She is also a celebrated wine writer, having earned numerous awards for pieces commissioned by a range of publications. In 2015, she published her first book, the acclaimed Napa Valley, Then & Now, and has contributed to many other seminal wine books, including the World Atlas of Wine, the Oxford Companion to Wine, On California, On Burgundy, and On Champagne. Her second solo book, Wine Confident, is being released in the Fall of 2024. She is also a coveted speaker, having lectured on wine all over the world, including at Fortune Magazine’s Most Powerful Women’s Summit, and has also made select television and film appearances.

SHARON KAZAN HARRIS: Owner and Director of Winemaking, RARECAT Wines

Sharon Kazan Harris, the Owner and Director of Winemaking at RARECAT Wines, discovered her passion for wine amidst the vineyards of Bordeaux at 20. Drawn to master French and its culture, she found Bordeaux to be a mentor in fine food, wine, and the joie de vivre. Her journey began with a seminal experience at Chateau Haut Brion, living with France’s premier cheesemaking family, and cooking under two-star chef Jean Marie Amat in Bordeaux during a stage (internship) de cuisine. After a successful tech career, Harris transitioned from computers to wine, underscored by graduating with honors from the Université de Bordeaux’s D.U.A.D. program, and launching RARECAT Wines. She oversees RARECAT’s wine production across Napa, Bordeaux, Russian River, and Champagne. Beyond viticulture, she empowers women, using wine to unite executives with stakeholders. Her innovation has carved a niche for RARECAT in the competitive wine industry. As the only American vintner producing estate wines in Napa, Champagne, and Bordeaux, she was lauded by Worth Magazine as one of the 29 Most Groundbreaking Women Changing the World in 2019 and celebrated as one of the Most Innovative Women in Wine. Harris has shared her insights at prestigious forums like Fortune’s 500 Most Powerful Women Summit, NAWBO, and WBENC and recently chosen for JP Morgan’s Next List. Currently, she is launching her fifth start up, Business-Uncorked, aimed at helping young professionals thrive in business and life by teaching soft skills like etiquette, communication, networking, influence, leadership, and entertaining.

ELLIS DELAHOUSAY: Director of Operations, Canopy Wines

Ellis Delahousay was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. The food and wine industry it is ingrained into his DNA. He graduated from Georgetown University in Finance and found his way into the culinary scene by attending Sullivan University where he obtained a Culinary Arts degree. Wanting to explore the world of food and wine, he worked in Europe for 3 years learning from some of the best chefs from Berlin to Paris, to Barcelona. He achieved the Certified Sommelier third level Advanced and then completed the Master of Wine Program (London) before starting a consulting firm developing wine programs for major hospitality organizations. After COVID, he moved to California to work with renowned winemaker Alan Viader at the famed Viader Winery and Darioush Wineries in the Napa Valley. It was there he learned to appreciate the hard work and dedication and time it takes to produce fine wine. In 2022, Ellis was approached to create a new concept for the Alejandro Bulgheroni Family Estates portfolio and open a new high end wine lounge in Palm Springs. The restaurant/ tasting room opened in December 2023.

JOSHUA KELLY: Winemaker, Canopy Wines

Josh is a passionate wine professional with a diverse background in wine education, restaurant consulting, and winery operations. He was born in Northern Canada and has lived all over North America. Holding the prestigious WSET Diploma in wine, along with being a Court of Master Sommeliers Certified Sommelier and a graduate of Niagara College’s Winery & Viticulture Technician Diploma, he brings a comprehensive understanding of both the art and science of winemaking. With a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development, he has earned accolades such as being named a Canadian Top 30 Under 30, recognizing his contributions to the wine and hospitality industry, emphasizing his dedication to excellence.

His experience spans from harvests at Stratus Vineyards in Niagara to wine directing several top tier restaurants in downtown Toronto. Josh has worked with the prestigious Darioush Winery in Napa Valley, California and is now the General Manager of Canopy Wine Lounge and Head Winemaker for Desert Wren in Southern California.

The wines have been celebrated for their quality for hundreds of years, but their influence extends well beyond France. This tasting will explore some of the best wines the Bordeaux houses have made from regions such as Napa Valley, the Maipo Valley, Stellenbosch, and Marlborough. Exclusive Shore Excursion – Shoreside Dinner at Chateau Suau: This evening offers you a once in a lifetime opportunity to dine like it’s 1855. Situated near the Garonne river in the Cadillac region of Bordeaux, the famed and historic property of Chateau Suau established in 1635.

The estate is framed by two turrets and a beautifully long lawn lined by orchard trees. Guest will be greeted with Champagne just off the transport. Then invited into a reception to share in caviar and canapés. Classic music of the period and region will be played alongside of the dinner. 

The theme of the evening is to step back in time and to share the experience with the fellow guest. Guest will dine on the lawn at a large harvest table, adorned with beautiful florals and bottles of the finest wines from Bordeaux and abroad! Guest will enjoy traditional wild boar fire roasted on a spit, oysters, fresh Atlantic Salmon, Foie Gras, and foraged mushrooms. Guests will have an opportunity to enjoy and taste wines from the owners own private cellar. 

These will be wines from the Chateau, as well as Grand Cru Classe wines from several vintages, and of the other properties in Tuscany, Australia, Uruguay, and California. Wines will be selected, presented, and served by the sommeliers on staff. A dessert cart will be stationed near the table featuring iconic desserts from the region. As well as some of the Sauternes dessert wines, produced at the Estate.

Before guest depart and return to the ship the Estate Director, winemaker, and staff of Chateau Suau will say “Bon Voyage” with 3 bottles of wine for each guest to take home to enjoy with fond memories of the evening! $449 per person
