Spotlight on Public Broadcasting: Celebrating Journalism

This 10-night itinerary offers travelers access to some of America’s most celebrated reporters and journalists with a special focus on the State of Journalism in 2022.  For years, the PBS NewsHour and Washington Week have been known for offering “more light than heat” in reporting the news of the day.   This voyage will feature a broad range of print and broadcast journalists from both programs.   Washington Post’s Dan Balz, Phil Rucker, Ashley Parker and Wall St. Journal’s Michael Binder – all Washington Week favorites – have agreed to join us.  Yaniche Alcindor, the new moderator of PBS’ Washington Week has also been confirmed. This astute team will analyze the world of political reporting and insights on the impact of the last political cycle on how reporters follow and report stories.  Many of our speakers have new books on the NY Times best seller lists!   All presentations will be non-partisan – with insight, analysis, and inside access to all facets of this most interesting political environment.  These presentations will be coupled with celebrations of arts, culture and history courtesy of filmmakers from PBS’ American Experience and American Masters.

Spotlight programming and events: Beginning with a festive Welcome Reception, guests will have the opportunity to greet speakers in-person, register for fascinating private dinners and hear more about the acclaimed work of each of these journalists.   Lectures and special screenings will be offered on sea days and certain afternoons in port.  Several PBS films will be screened in the Constellation Theater and on 2 broadcast channels in guest cabins.  A special Group Dinner mid-way through the voyage will allow for an exclusive opportunity to meet other passengers with similar interests and also engage closely with speakers and performers following their time on stage. Both a Mid-cruise Reception and a Farewell Reception are also offered during this unique offering.  Additional on-board activities and custom shore excursions will be added soon.

Day by day programming schedules will be provided prior to embarkation via email to all guests who join the group.
