Celebrating Broadway!

October 23th – November 6th, 2022

Spotlight on Broadway!

Along with jazz and abstract expressionism, the Broadway musical is one of the few uniquely American art forms.  This Spotlight on Broadway will include an array of highly acclaimed Broadway performers, directors and producers sharing their stories and their favorite Broadway tunes in concert.   Performers will discuss insights into the craft of theater with curated interactive panel discussions. We’ll also feature Broadway directors and producers who will provide unique insights on the inner workings of bringing a Broadway show to the Great White Way. This fully immersive Broadway adventure combines the glitz, glamour, and fanfare of the timeless Broadway tradition.

Several PBS films will be screened in the Constellation Theater.  We will also share the six-part PBS documentary series, BROADWAY: THE AMERICAN MUSICAL, the first comprehensive history of the musical, from its roots at the turn of the 20th century through the smashing successes of the new millennium. The documentary tells two stories: the 100-year history of musical theater and the story of its relationship to 20th-century American life. The six-part series begins with the immigrant experience at the turn of the century, when a melting pot of voices and styles gave rise to a popular new form of entertainment, and ends with today’s Broadway, where big-budget new productions and revivals of classic favorites compete side by side for box office success

This 14-night itinerary offers travelers access to the very best of Broadway.  These presentations will be coupled with celebrations of arts, culture and history courtesy of filmmakers from PBS’ American Masters and Great Performances.

Meet and engage with these experts and other featured guests at panel discussions, presentations, as well as private dinners and cocktail receptions which allow for one-on-one interaction during the unforgettable voyage.

Spotlight programming and events: Beginning with a festive Welcome Reception, guests will have the opportunity to greet speakers and performers in-person, register for fascinating private dinners and hear more about the acclaimed work of our Broadway speakers and performers.  Lectures and special screenings will be offered on sea days and certain afternoons in port.   A special Group Dinner mid-way through the voyage will allow for an exclusive opportunity to meet other passengers with similar interests and also engage closely with speakers and performers following their time on stage. Both a Mid-cruise Reception and a Farewell Reception are also offered during this unique offering. Acclaimed Broadway performers will produce evening concerts throughout the cruise.  Additional on-board activities and custom shore excursions will be added soon.

To join the group:   Spotlight lectures, dinners, and cocktail parties, all unrivaled experiences – are open to all Regent guests at no extra charge. Join our “community at sea” by mentioning the group code “SPO” (for Spotlight) at the time of booking or add this experience to your “On Board Options” via Destination Services to reflect your interest in attending Spotlight on Public Broadcasting events.  A programming agenda will be delivered to your suite upon embarkation and along with exclusive invitations to activities and events that will be sent to your suite throughout the journey.

A Special Pre-Cruise Experience:  Broadway: The Ultimate Tour Experience!  Before we set sail, we are offering a 2-day experience in New York for those who want an exclusive look at the world of Broadway and all its magic.  We will go “behind the scenes” to see how creative teams bring unique storytelling to Broadway.  Guests will also experience the very best of Broadway with a performance of the hottest revival, Music Man with Tony Award Winners Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster.
